Who we are

CourseBuzz is a trading name of Credible You LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 09130597), based in Coleford, Forest of Dean, UK. We are responsible for your personal information, which makes us its “controller” under UK data protection law.

Questions about this policy or your information: sam@coursebuzz.co.uk.

The short version

  • This website doesn’t set cookies of its own or use advertising trackers. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics and Plausible Analytics to count visits and clicks without following you around the web.
  • The newsletter form and the Academy Readiness Check each load a service from another company only when you reach their form. Those services may use what they need to work, as explained below.
  • We only collect personal information when you choose to give it to us: by joining the newsletter, taking the Academy Readiness Check, booking a call or emailing us.
  • We never sell your information.

What we collect and why

Newsletter

When you sign up, our email service MailerLite collects your email address (and your name, if you give it). We use it to send you our guides and updates. MailerLite also tells us which emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we know what’s useful. The sign-up form only loads from MailerLite when you open it, and MailerLite may use cookies it needs for the form to work. The form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam sign-ups, so Google receives technical details such as your IP address while the form is open.

Lawful basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Academy Readiness Check

The check is a short quiz on this site. Your answers are scored in your browser, so nothing reaches us until you fill in the form that asks for your first name and email address, tick the box and press the button. After that:

  • Cloudflare runs our server code. It checks you’re not a bot, works out your score again and builds your plan. The bot check, called Turnstile, looks at technical details of your browser and connection, such as your IP address, to tell people from bots. It only loads when the form appears. Our pages store nothing on your device for it, but Cloudflare may use cookies or similar storage on its own domain to make it work, and we don’t control that.
  • Anthropic, the company behind Claude, receives the two answers you typed (who the academy is for and what learners will be able to do). It rewords them into tidy sentences for your plan. We never send your name or email address to Anthropic. Anthropic deletes what it receives within 30 days, apart from limited cases such as safety checks and legal duties. If Anthropic can’t be reached, your plan uses your own words.
  • Your plan is saved on Cloudflare for 12 months, so you can reopen it from the link in your email. It holds your first name, your score and gaps, and your plan, including the two typed answers as reworded. It doesn’t hold your email address. Anyone with the link can open the plan, so be careful about forwarding the email. To have a plan deleted sooner, email us the link to it.
  • MailerLite receives your name, email address, score, gaps, a few of your multiple-choice answers (your stage, type of organisation, pricing model and the LearnWorlds features you picked) and the link to your plan. It also records when you agreed and your IP address, as proof of your consent. It sends you your plan email and three follow-up emails, and after that you stay on our newsletter list until you unsubscribe. The text you typed is not stored in MailerLite.

To stop abuse, we also keep a count of recent submissions from each internet connection for up to an hour. It uses a one-way scrambled version of the IP address, not the address itself.

Lawful basis: your consent, which you give by ticking the box. You can unsubscribe from any email, and unsubscribing doesn’t delete your saved plan, which expires after 12 months. The bot check and the submission count rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam and abuse.

Booking a call

The “Book a free call” buttons open our booking page on Google Calendar. Google collects your name, email address and anything you add to the booking, and puts the call in our calendar.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry, and taking steps you ask for before any contract.

Emailing us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send. Our email runs on Google Workspace.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in replying to you.

Working with us

If you become a client, we keep your contact and billing details so we can deliver the work and keep the accounting records the law requires.

Lawful basis: our contract with you, and our legal obligations.

Visiting the website

Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical details such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. We don’t use these details to identify you. Fonts and videos come from our own site, so no other company sees your visit.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are visited, which sites send visitors to us, which countries and devices visitors use, and how quickly pages load. It doesn’t use cookies or other storage on your device, and it doesn’t follow you across other websites. We see totals, not individual visitors, and we don’t use the figures to identify you. Cloudflare may process your IP address and browser details to produce them.

We use Plausible Analytics as well, to count which buttons and links are used, such as the “Book a free call” buttons, and which pages lead to them. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It doesn’t build a profile of you or follow you across other websites, and we can’t see who you are from it. Plausible works out a visit from your IP address and browser details, which it turns into a short-lived anonymous code and doesn’t keep.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website and understanding how it’s used so we can improve it. If you’d rather not be counted, a browser or ad blocker that blocks analytics scripts will stop it.

Who we share it with

These services help us run the business. They handle your information on our behalf, under contract:

  • Cloudflare: website hosting, security, visit statistics, the Academy Readiness Check bot check and storage of your plan
  • Plausible Analytics: counting page visits and button clicks, with no cookies and no personal profiles
  • MailerLite: newsletter and Academy Readiness Check emails
  • Anthropic: rewording the two answers you type in the Academy Readiness Check
  • Google Workspace: email, calendar and call booking

Some of these companies are based in, or store data in, the United States. When information goes outside the UK, it’s protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

We don’t sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter and Academy Readiness Check emails: until you unsubscribe. We keep a record that you unsubscribed, so we don’t email you again.
  • Academy Readiness Check plan: 12 months, then it’s deleted automatically. The submission count is kept for up to an hour. Anthropic deletes what it receives within 30 days.
  • Enquiries and bookings that don’t lead to work: up to 2 years.
  • Client records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax rules require.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the information we hold about you
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • limit or object to how we use it
  • give you a copy in a format you can reuse
  • stop using it where you gave consent, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter

Email sam@coursebuzz.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
